The weather has turned slightly cooler here. I am loving that as well and hope my allergies will be gone soon! This is my FAVORITE time of the year hands down. I love that it's getting cooler and before ya know it the snow will fly. I don't so much like the snow and the REAL cold but better than the heat of the summer. YUCK! lol
Baseball season was a TOTAL flop for me so of course football is a welcome change. Not a whole lot of hype about the Steelers this year. Of course there wasn't either the year they won the superbowl. lol My DH is a Cowgirls fan so there is always some fueding going on here. Of course -- I got to laugh the last 2 years when the cowgirls choked hehe. Doesn't matter that my teams wasnt there lol His team choked!
Gonna dig out my steelers sweatshirt soon and put on some shorts and get ready for the game. Unfortunately since I am in the midwest the game is not on TV. I really need to get a dish and get the football package. lol
Enjoy the games today!

We got home last night from registering Dustin and there was a TV crew next door. My DH being the busy body that he is lol went over to see what was going on but couldn't figure it out. So I go to the back and walked out on the deck to quickly come right back in! lol There were a bunch of people and the tv crew in the back. You could see a grill and they were talking to the kids and yadda yadda. So after a bit my DH went back out with our dog - holding him and the lady comes over and says I won the grill for having the best pork chops. So they got a new grill and a back yard BBQ lol They did the weather from their yard. They invited us over but I wasn't about to be on TV! Cool eh?

Wow a pretty intense night for storms last night. I don't know how I managed to sleep through them but I did! lol The neighbors that are kitty corner from us in the back had their a big branch fall on the fenced behind us. The fence was JUST put up yesterday. the biggest portion of the tree is in my yard though. it took out some cable to the neighbors. Waiting for them to get home so I can go talk to them. Storms have been crazy this year so far. Hope we end up with a mild winter!

Hope the day finds you well! Planning on heading out to my sister's later this afternoon to enjoy the evening with family and friends! They usually shoot of some fireworks but not sure they made it down to MO this year. Just have to wait and see. Most of the "good" fireworks shows were last night. We didn't go out to see any of htem. lol DH worked and Dustin wasn't overly enthused about going out.
Tomorrow -- my parents leave for their first missions trip. My mom has been packing and unpacking and repacking. lol She is worried that the rv is overloaded from all her stuff. She is a riot! I know most of it is nervous energy. They haven't done anything like this before and she is worried about leaving the family and the business behind. Kind of hard for her to let go. They will be back at the end of July for a few days and then not back again until December. Makes me kind of sad too.
Lately I have been feeling kind of blue. Nightmares about my daughter and my mom leaving and turning 40 in about a week -- guess it brings out the sadness. Either that or it's pre-menopause lol Either way it's no fun!
Next weekend we are heading down to the Royals v Mariners game in KC. We will just stay the night on the 12th -- which is actually my bday -- then come home fairly early in Sunday. My DH has to work that night!
Hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday!

There is a mega kit that has been put together by some talented scrappers. The money from the kit is going to help with the cost of clothes, toys and medical bills of Abby and Declan.
Their story is listed on the link! Feel free to pass the link around! Let's do what we can to help these 2 innocent children.

NOT! I still am just completely at a loss at how terrible the Mariners are playing this year. Last year they came so close to making the playoffs. They added Bedard & Silva and a few other additions that seemed like such a great move! Then they started to play and it's been down hill ever since!
They are actually worse than horrible not sure what that would be exactly! lol They have the worst record in baseball and the only way you can find a team doing as poorly as they are you would have to go to single A ball - now that is bad!
They fired Bavasi yesterday. Will it help? Who knows -- I don't really think it will. I believe that the change needs to come from the players and the management that is closer to the day by day -- but that's just my opinion.
I still kind of listen but know this year is just a wash out. At least the Cubs are really kicking some butt! I have been enjoying listening to them win!

My DH calls me around 3ish and tells me our sweet little dog got one of my razors. At first we thought it was no big deal. He calls me back a while later and it appears Jack has eaten the razor -- not just the plastic but the blades. My DH can't find them anywhere. So I tell him to phone the vet and they tell him to bring him in.
I tell one of my co-workers what our little jackster had done and he begins to tell me about a dog he had that had to be put to sleep for something similiar. So now I am anxious! I call my Dh about 10 times over the next 30 minutes waiting on the results of the xrays!
They finally get them in and NO razors! Yippee!! He probably did eat some of the plastic so they put him on a soft food diet for the next few days. I vaccumed the house to be sure that they weren't still on the phone!
He seems to be doing ok!

My DH and I celebrated our 3rd year wedding anniversary on Sunday. We have actually been together for 7 years. Hmmm 7 year itch? I don't think so lol I wonder if that basically applies to younger couples? Who knows!! We went out on Friday night and spent the evening away from the kids -- my son and our furbabies. We had a nice time. Got up too early on Saturday though!
Maybe one of these days I can actually get a picture of him and I and post it up. Might keep some of the crazies away lol

Time for some new Jack pictures! He has grown quite a bit and I think he may FINALLY be done growing. If he is what he is supposed to be he is very much on the big side of the Toy Fox Terrier. He weighs just about 14lbs. We just took him in to be fixed this week. Hope it will calm him down a little bit anyway lol Not sure if it has yet.
The botom picture is how he looks at you sometimes if you whistle or make a strange noise he isn't used to! lol What a cutie he is!

Next weekend in Mother's Day. At the church that my mother attends they usually have a mother/daugher banqute of some sort. This year they decided to have a coffee. It was this morning - so I went with my mother and 2 of my nieces. My other niece couldn't attend and my SIL didn't go nor did my sister.
The speaker this year is a woman by the name of Gracia Burnham. Her and her husband were missionaries down in the Phillipines for about 17 years. In May of 2001 - they had a quick 24 hour get away for their anniversary. Never did they imagine what would happen on that trip.
They were kidnapped at gunpoint by an Abu Sayyaf Group, a militant group of Muslims. They spent the next 376 days in captivity and traveled throughout the jungle. Facing many gun battles along the way. The finaly gun battle they faced was the one the ended with Gracia being wounded and her husband Martin being killed.
She came to tell her story about the trials that she went through during this time and the way that God helped her and her husband survive during those times. She is an amazing speaker. I would imagine she has probably told her story literally thousdands of times and she still gets teared up about and it still touches her soul. There wasn't a dry eye in the place.
Her is a link to her site if you want to check it out. She has also written 2 books -- one about her time in captivity and one since.

About 3 weeks ago my DH got the magazing ESPN in the mail. About 2 days later we get the bill - thanking us for subscribing. Huh?? WE didn't subscribe. I thought well we just did MLB.com so maybe it's something with that but no.
Anyway on Satuday we get a package. I open it and inside The Pursuit of Happiness and our brand new subscription to Columbia. WTH? My DH does NOT watch movies lol EVER! My son and I do but we didn't do it and they came in his name.
So I put in a call to ESPN and waiting ot hear from them. I had DH call Columbia today and tell them he didn't sign up. They said that was fine and they cancelled him and he can keep the movie.
But what I wanna know is who is signing him up for all this crap. He works at Pizza Hut with a lot of younger kids and some other guys that I could see pulling a stunt like this. It isn't very funny though and I am scared to see what is going to show up next!

Ok I am a day late posting but I reached my 1 Year mark of not smoking! WOW -- it's hard to believe. There are still moments I want a cig but for the most part they pass by rahter quickly. I still have fidgety moments as well but I am sure that is to be expected after smoking for about 20 years or so!
Just wanted to toot my own horn!

Been one of those weeks. Something happened the other night -- not going into detail but it was a wake up call. Things need to change and get right. The path that we are heading on is not the right one. It's not going to be easy to get back on the right path but I believe that can do it.
I am heading on my 1 year anniversary of quitting smoking. So I think I have it in my to tackle the next thing.

Got my new laptop and now I have had no time to post! lol Just had to take time to get everything transferred over. I think I am pretty well set now! It is still wicked cool!
Did a countdown ticker for the Ms opening day! Not much longer now! There have only been like 2 or 3 of their games on XM during Spring Training and so I haven't followed a whole lot.

Yeah! My new laptop arrived today! Earlier than expected so that's cool! Much bigger hard drive and a DVD burner! Lots more extras than this one has. I really love the purple and the flowers on the outside! It even has matching wallpaper! lol Now I have the joy of moving everything over from the old to the new. I have an external hard drive so that helps! It is running right now!
Got another round of snow last night. It was 63 yesterday at noon by 9 last night it was 30. lol Just like Iowa! Things were melting nicely and now we are coverd again. We got a round of freezing rain and then 3.5 inches of snow on top of that. At the end of my drive it drifts really bad. I wasn't sure I could get out this morning but I did. Didn't fair so well when I got home. I got stuck at the end of the drive. My son was able to help me get out but man I was pissed that he didn't get it done earlier. So I did have to go shovel a bit tonight.
My favorite show was on last night - The L Word. WOW -- I think that was the most sex I have seen on that show in a long time. Not sleezy sleep with everyone sex but lots of couples in love. I so love Tasha & Alice together. I am glad that Tasha finally realized that Alice was worth leaving the national guard for and of course Bette & Tina getting back together is totally awesome. I think they have such great chemistry. Jenny was actually likeable this episode!! Didn't really like the whole Shane/Molly thing but that's probably because of my Shane crush! lol
Hope everyone survived Monday!!

Been a couple days since I stopped by. Got the car all running again - after about 1000 dollars! Grrrrrrr I just keep hoping that it will last a while longer and not keep nickel and diming us. I tried to get him to take my old car but he didn't want it. So it just sits in the garage now. Until I decide to sell it or Dustin finally gets his license!
I ordered my new laptop and it's going to take about 2 weeks to finally get it. I am excited -- it is more of what I want. I sent my old old laptop to my daughter - the one I had given my son but he never used and I am trying to sell my new old one lol If that makes sense. If the guy that I work with doesn't want it then I will try Ebay.
I also bought a new XM Radio. This one is pink and is supposed to be more portable and comes with a car kit. I am hoping then I can listen in the car as well. We mainly just subscribe to XM during baseball season. Spring training is just around the corner. I don't remember though if they have the Spring training games on XM. Since I bought it on XM though I better go ahead and get it set up so I can be sure that it works!
Hmmm -- not much else going on. Got the first edition of the suicide girls cards on Ebay. Didn't know there were 2 sets until I posted in the CILM Forum and Dan mentioned them. I know that the Rion ones really rock!
Ohhhhhhhh Jack is about 95% house broken now! I can't believe how well he is doing. I have really been working with him on it and he is pretty much got it down. Even this morning when he got up at like 4 he scratched at the door to go out - YEAH!! lol I have been training him too -- he can do sit and lay down now!
Thnk that's about it for now!

My DH called me yesterday to tell me his car wouldn't start. Well the way it sounded he needed a new battery and probably a jump to go get one. I told him to use the other car in the garage to get it jumped. Well he couldn't figure it out so I told him to wait until I got home.
My son calls about 2:45 and forgot his bus pass so I have to get him. Ok fine because I need to get my DH's car going anyway. So I call him like a million times and he is sleeping and not answering. So I get him up when I get home and try to jump his car. Try it first with my new car -- nada and then with my older car nada!
So I call and talk to my Ex -- can you put a new battery in my DH's car and he says ya. So I call up and get the battery and will have to take the old one back later to get the core charge back. Get my Ex over to replace the battery -- did I mention it is like 5 degrees outside during this? lol So he switches batteries and you guessed it -- NOTHING! Grrrrrrr so now what!
Turns out it is the starter. Mind you this will be the 3rd starter that he has put in this car in roughly about a year and a half. I don't know if his remote starter is screwing it up or what. So now we have to have the car towed down here and my Ex will put the new starter on it tonight in the warehouse where it will be half way warm at least and the part is covered under warranty so that helps!
I haven't been feeling the best so I ended up crashing at about 7:30 last night only to wake up at 2:30 this morning and toss and turn for about 2 hours before I can finally go back to sleep. So I am dragging again today and can't leave early or anything because of the car trouble. But I will probably end up crashing early again tonight.

Looks like we are going to get another round of bad weather here. It is warm today and so the first round could very likely bring freezing rain and sleet before it starts to snow. That is usualy where the problems begin. I sure hope that we do not get a lot of freezing rain!! They are calling for 4 - 8 inches of snow after that. So winter is not going anywhere anytime soon here in Iowa!
We are on alert for work from the utillity company that we move utility poles for and other material. Depending on what happens it could very well be a long night. With my BIL still out -- that leaves me kind of sort of in charge lol Or at least to be pretending what i am doing. I think he will be back on Monday!!
Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

This story is good for a laugh!
I was on a mission yesterday to find some ice melt and an ice breaker. Not that I really know what an ice breaker is for sure but I am supposed to go get one. We had a drop deck that was covered in ice and snow and it needed to be removed so we could make a delivery today.
So I go to Kmart first to see what they have in stock. I walk in and towards the back where these things SHOULD be -- what do I find instead -- planting soil, planting tools -- Spring stuff. Have these people not looked outside recently? It is STILL winter here in Iowa! So off to another store to have a look!
I head to Walmart thinking they always have what I need. I should have known it was a no go when I first walked in the door. Typically they have the ice melt right in the front and there was none. So I head back to the seasonal area and take a look. I see no ice melt and no ice breaker.
I look out in the "garden" area and wow -- hey that looks like that ice breaker dohickey! So I head on out with my cart --door opens and closes. I take a look around and dang not it -- there are hole diggers, shovels, hoes and gardening material. It's cold out here and not what I need so I have go to go Menards so I start to go back in the store.
I push my cart to the doors and nothing. Hmmmmmmm -- they don't open. Great -- not cool. I go up to the door and look for a button or something to make them open. Nada -- I try to pry -- Nada! So I see a lady inside and I knock loudly -- she ignores me. So I think ok - I will just go out and around. So I look around to find a way out of the caged area. Nothing!
Oh great -- I am competely stuck in here lol What am I going to do?!!?? So I call my son -- hey can you get me the number to Walmart - I am locked out. "Locked Out???" They wont' let you in or what? lol So I explain and of course he starts laughing. Tis not funny -- it's cold get me the number. So he has to go find it and I tell him to call me back!
About that time I hear a car door open and see a lady headed around the side and I holler out at her -- hey can you go around and let me in!! She looks at me like I am completely insane. But says she will come around and let me in. So I go back to the door and wait and see this guy walking around in near the door. I pound really hard and he FINALLY comes over and lets me in!
OMG -- I was so freakin embarrassed. He thought it was funny as well! lol So note to self -- do NOT go out that door when it is cold lol Cuz ya can't get back in!
Hope ya had a good laugh

Doesn't really matter how old they are -- you still just have to love them. It is amazing how tragedy affects your life in all sorts of ways. You look at the sky different and the snow different and everything else as well.
I always love my children and tell them just how much. I am not much of a hugger but I get those moments in when I can because you just never know what kind of turns life will bring you.
With all that's going on with my BIL -- I guess I am a little somber today. Trying to keep my spirits up and know that soon that little girl will be in a better place.
Every chance you get -- tell em you love and give them that extra hug.

My BIL -- he is my sister's husband and the guy I work with -- his brother's daughter - his niece - was running a high fever yesterday. So they gave her some tylenol and laid her down. Well they went back to check on her maybe an hour later or so -- not sure on that part -- and found her stiff with her eyes rolled back. They rushed her to the hosptial and they life flighted her to a bigger hospital. They gave her 24 hours to live. She is only -- I want to say maybe 2 or 3. Not much older.
Not sure what is going on exactly. Going to call later and talk to him because I got the news from my mother. There has been some trouble there. I know that his brother was separated and filing for divorce from the kid's mother. She was neglective and lost custody of the children. Her new boyfriend is very abusive and the last time the kids were there they had bruises when they returned. Which is why she had lost complete custody and visitation rights. So does all this have to do with that or is just something else? Right now -- dunno.
Just if you could keep them in your thoughts and prayers. Very sad situation I am sure my BIL is beside himself.

I am hoping for a Giants win though it's a long shot. Of course it was a long shot for them to get to the Bowl. They weren't expected to beat the Cowgirls OR the Packers and look where they are now! I would have never picked them to make it this far! I hate the Patriots though so blah on that!! Really just looking forward to the grub and the commercials!
Have my game gear on though and rooting for my favorite -- the Steelers tee hee!
Enjoy the game everyone!
